Welcome, chapter and club administrators. Organized by regions and around cultural, social, and professional interests, UCLA alumni chapters and clubs bring Bruins together and expand their connections. These guidelines will assist you in creating and planning successful social or professional activities at UCLA.
Getting Started
1. Contact your Alumni Association staff liaison.
- The staff liaison will guide you in all aspects of your event planning including venue selection, funding options, University policies affecting your event, marketing tips, and answer any questions you may have.
2. Define your event goals and objectives.
- What is the purpose of the event?
- Is the event the best or most appropriate way to achieve your goals?
- What do you want the participants to take away from the event?
- What is the value of the activity to your chapter or club?
- Is the event in keeping with the mission and value of the chapter, the Alumni Association and the University?
3. Select the date and time for your event.
- The event will be most successful if the date does not conflict with other large University, national, public or religious events on campus or in the community.
- Take advantage of the calendars listed in the Related Information section: University Academic and Administrative Calendar, Sunrise/Sunset and Holidays
4. Create a brief written master plan
- Understanding the who (who is attending), what (budget, contacts), where (location), when (time) and why (purpose and goals) of your event and having it in written form will be invaluable when informing staff, participants, vendors and others.
